Where do non-ideal products come from and what to do with them?
It started with the fact that as the volume of our production increased, so did the number of so-called production rejects, i.e. products whose creation process did not go quite right. In our case, this usually involved a pulled thread, a mistaken color or an error in the weave or pattern. We realized that this was a natural consequence of manufactory production, and since cooperation with local sewing factories was one of the pillars of our vision for KABAK from the beginning, we didn't think to change it. Still, it pained us that quite efficient products, which sometimes require only a moment's attention with a thread in hand, have to go into oblivion. That's why we started thinking about what to do to give these unfortunate rejects of ours a chance for a second life.
The birth of our outlet
That's the idea of bringing an outlet to life. Yet it is not a typical outlet, with collection endings, products from returns, etc., but one in a less waste style. So we collected all our rejects, took detailed photos of them showing the defects, prepared descriptions in which we tried to describe the type of damage as precisely as possible, and put them in the hands of our buyers. The result exceeded our wildest expectations. It turned out that there are a lot more people who want to give non-ideal products a second life than we assumed, and the outlet products, despite their defects, sell immediately. In a little over a year, our collective commitment translated into exactly 329 rescued products! That's 329 products that, despite minor defects, bravely fulfill their role and faithfully serve their saviors :)
