Workshop with Wandering Women

Workshop with Wandering Women

As KABAK, we have had many successful sock design workshops, but the ones we organized in cooperation with the Wandering Women Foundation (fundacja Kobiety Wędrowne) were undoubtedly among the most remarkable in our achievements. Discover the story of our friendship and the behind-the-scenes creation of a sock – a donation token supporting the foundation's activities!

KABAK has almost always had its home at Hoża 51 in Warsaw. This is where we opened our first full-size shop, where our online sales had their beginnings and where we were stationed on a daily basis with a small, then 4-person team. Nowadays, our company has undergone significant changes - we have 7 stationary shops all over Poland, our online sales are now managed from a 300-square-metre warehouse and the KABAK team is made up of almost 30 people - but our affection for Hoża Street remains unchanged. Over the past 6 years (since 29 June 2016 to be precise) we have met many wonderful people there and made some close friends. One of them is our partnership with the Wandering Women Foundation, our neighbour at 60 Wilcza Street, which commenced with a KABAK Christmas Eve event. In 2021, we held our company Christmas Eve right in the Conflict Kitchen. This is how we met Khedi - an absolutely extraordinary Wandering Woman, a refugee from Chechnya. She is currently the president of the Wandering Women Foundation and the manager of the Wandering Women's Kitchen Bistro-Store.

Wandering Women is a foundation that originated from the Warsaw restaurant Kitchen of Conflict - a place of professional and social integration for refugees (men and women). The foundation continues this mission by providing safe and decent work for refugee women whose opportunities on the open labour market are limited due to various forms of discrimination and unequal treatment of this vulnerable community. Business activity is a source of funds for the implementation of the foundation's statutory objectives, i.e. supporting women and families who have experienced forced migration.

The mission of Wandering Women is dear to KABAK's heart, so we support it as much as we can. The sock design workshops were one of the activities aimed to ensure the foundation's financial self-sufficiency and enable the development of foundation projects. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us at this special event! Stay tuned for the announcement of the winning design as we prepare to begin sock production!
